Draw Yourself Series: Breaking Bad for wundgeheilt
It was quite hard, but it was found. I used this picture of Jesse as a reference.
PS: I dyed my hair black.

"I think [Breaking Bad] is a show of contrasts, and so there are little hot spots in there when something could be completely dark or completely backlit or completely silhouette; there might be a little highlight, you know, that draws your eye to fill the frame. …I wanted to do to give it that painterly feel."
– Breaking Bad cinematographer Michael Slovis
Here we go, I’m starting season 3.
A study in Neon.
rough sherlock study, Paint Tool Sai
Watching TV series makes drawing their characters totally irresistible to me.
I have never written meta before, but I deem myself to be quite good at analysis as well in German as in English, therefore I hope this first one for Sherlock is acceptable.
I chose one of my favorite screencaps, my favorite character in my favorite episode. As most of you already know, this is Mycroft in “A Study In Pink”, our beloved first episode of the first season. The scene takes place shortly after Sherlock talking with Lestrade about the shock blanket and the one who shot the cabbie (John).
Mycroft then arrives at the crime scene and leaves his car. What is the first thing he does? He looks out, probably for Sherlock. And if that face is not the face of someone worrying, while still enormously caring, what else is it?. It’s certainly not the face of a man who only arrives in order to check if his little brother got in trouble again or fucked anything up, it’s the face of someone who isn’t angry with someone, but rather worrying if he might have been hurt. Just as in the conversation he had with John earlier in episode one, he proves to be a protective (over)protective brother. But never mind his sometimes extreme actions, his care for Sherlock is genuine.
As often in the series, Mycroft is portrayed alone. No “goldfish” in sight, not even in the (extremely blurred) background. The colors of the screenshot are kept cool, dark blue, brown and green tones, highlighting his Isolation. He is furthermore positioned in the left part of the frame, leaving the right part open for his searching gaze.
In conclusion, even in the first episode, we are shown, that Mycroft is not quite the “enemy”, he jokingly refers himself too. In between his famous mocking grin, his perfect “caring is not an advantage” poker face, he himself shows his true emotions. Which is, as seen in “His Last Vow”, his care for Sherlock, his one and only “pressure point”.
